The two enterprising American-born Jewish gentlemen Jerome "Jerry" Leiber and Mike Stoller were a winning combination, they formed Spark records, and they were a songwriting team, record-producing partners. Every song on The Rockers’ That Is Rock And Roll album (ACCD117) benefits from their imaginative songwriting skills, and they are additionally credited using the pseudonym, Elmo Glick for two recordings. There are most certainly several well-known versions of titles that are purposely omitted, for it is a safe assumption that most of you will have these already. Some titles appear on each album in the two CD series, all be it in different styles or arrangements and the concept of the albums is to show the adaptations of Leiber and Stroller’s songwriting skills.
