From the profound to the profane, from Country to Calypso, Cat and his boys fire off one banger after the other, most of them original material, all of them tightly arranged and performed with extraordinary verve and skill: Primitive R'n'B – Check. The brilliant title song „Shootin' Crap“ will make you jump up and dance within the first ten seconds. Country Rockabilly – Check. „Headin' for the Cotton Field“ with its relentless beat, pumping piano and wobbly guitar is Redneck Rock'n'Roll at its absolute finest. Blues Novelty Song – Check. „Sound and Smoke“ with its tongue-in-cheek jive talk lyrics and completely unbridled Guitar Slim Style solo delivers what very few bands can pull off these days. Calypso – Check. With „Don't Blame it on Elvis“, one of only three cover songs on this album, the boys dip their toes into Jamaican Calypso and convince with a sovereign performance that will transfer you right to the beach. Gypsy Polka – Check. „Nobody“ is a delightfully strange genre-mix which nevertheless makes perfect sense with its tight viby arrangement and provides another completely different flavor in the mix. 40s R'n'B – Check. With „Miss Bourbon“ and „Sweet Love“ we get two fantastic Jump Blues tunes reminiscent of Louis Jordan, Johnny Guitar Watson, Jimmy Nolen and the likes. Jivers – Check. We dare to forecast „Mr. Big Time“ and „The World keeps on turning“ as future Record Hop favorites with their perfect tempo and melodies that will stick with you for weeks on end. 30s Swing – Check. „Tomorrow“ comes with a great honky-tonk style swing groove, and melancholic philosophical lyrics, undoubtedly conceived in 2020/21. Mambo – Check. „Somebody“ (please don't confuse with „Nobody“) grooves like all hell and provides a template for Cat Lee King to stretch his vocal chords. Brilliant stuff. Samba – Check. Nat Cole's „Pretend“ has been done a thousand times in many different ways. Therefore it's all the more impressive, how fresh and gripping this arrangement is. Country Ballad – Check. „Brand New Heart“ exhibits a facette we very rarely heard from Cat Lee King and his Cocks. With its twangy guitar and stomping country shuffle groove it's not only textbook Country adding to the display of genres, but also a touching tragic love song, poignantly delivered with very strong vocals by Cat Lee King. Dirty Rock'n'Roll – Check. The Album concludes with a powerhouse version of „Last Call for Alcohol“, complete with a nasty guitar solo to knock your socks off. This late follow-up to a very strong debut album is nothing short of a sensation. We pity the fool who doesn't own a copy of this.
