"Ford cars were an affordable drive, and from the late 1940s onwards youths customised them into hot rods with twin pipes and a Columbia butt. For you folks who don't dig the jive, that's two carburettors and an overdrive. The thirty song album 121 Years Of The Ford Car is a rockin' tribute in music to Henry Ford's designs." The Atomicat Records Anniversary series shines its headlights onto Henry Ford's company and celebrates 121 Years Of The Ford Car (ACCD147). "Well gather around friends while I tell you a story about a Model-A Ford." In words and music, we explore Ford cars' influence and appearance in music. This album is dedicated to Henry Ford's dream and the brand which became synonymous with the "Fabulous Fifties." The Ford Motor Company was founded by Henry Ford on the 16th of June 1903, and in that year the company produced the first Model-A car. Atomicat Records celebrates 121 years of the Ford car with thirty songs, one of which is from 1948, and the remainder are sourced from the years 1952 through to 1962. The featured songs were inspired by the automobile whether in title, verse, or simply the artists took the group name from a Ford model. The album's music is sourced from several genres; jumping Rhythm & Blues, beatie Rock 'n’ Roll, rustic Hillbilly, and sweet Doo-Wop.

Adding to its collection of blues, and rhythm and blues songs is album number eight in the compelling series Black Pearls. Issued via Koko Mojo, the person responsible for the Black Pearls album series is Ronni Boysen, a multi-award winning blues guitarist from Denmark and, for those in the know, the founding member of The Kokomo Kings (See Rhythm Bomb Records for the band’s albums because they are worth checking out!), in addition to performing with Mud Morganfield Band (son of Muddy Waters) for the past thirteen years. With such talent and knowledge given the accompanying information regarding Ronni Boysen’s record buying habits and therefore ever-expanding collection, the giveaway are the many delightful records found in this album series so far. Volume Eight, “Down In The Basement”, features another twenty-eight tracks for your listening and/or dancing pleasures, and mixes some well-known artists with a considerable amount of lesserknown names as well. Such combinations often make for an interesting listen, and it’s safe to say that Black Pearls Vol.8 “Down In The Basement” continues the winning combination. Evidence for such a statement can be heard through artists and tracks including The Shondells ‘My Love’, The Contours ‘Whole Lotta Woman’, Earl Connelly ‘This Girl’, Little Jimmy Ray ‘You Need To Fall In Love’, and Johnny Torrence ‘Your Lover Man’. It’s Bunker Hill with excellent ‘You Can’t Make Me Doubt My Baby’ who gets the latest addition to the Black Pearls album series underway, and the soulful, reflective ‘Feelin In Mah Bones’ by Jimmy Lewis is the perfect conclusion to another fine collection in Black Pearls Vol.8 “Down In The Basement”. Welcome to Rockin' Schlager Party No. 3, this time you get to hear 32 German rock'n'roll and teenbeat gems from the years 1958-63 from my box of records. Many of them are German cover versions of English-language originals and an Adriano Celentano cover by the Missouris. Some of the performers sing in German, but with a bit of an accent, such as Little Gerhard from Sweden, Vittorio Casagrande from Italy, Leroy Van Dyke from the USA or Pirko Manola from Finland. All the songs on this CD have passed my taste test. That means they are "cool" and "danceable". Unfortunately, you can't necessarily say that about many German releases of the time. They were often silly cover versions or jazz interpretations, usually played by orchestras that tended to ridicule rock'n'roll as "jungle music". The selection here shows that things could be different. In short, here are some great exceptions that will make you want to party to more Rockin' Schlager Party. Compiled by Simone "Doo-Wop Baby" Schütze All recordings were dubbed over from the original 45s, and we tried to get the best possible sound quality for you in the mastering.
